I find it hard to believe that all these music sites have already created their best of 2008 release list, only because we have just now arrived in 2009.  For me that means I can now close off the year 2008 and create my very own best of list.  Every release you will see in my list are all from the year 2008, even though many of my favorite albums that I discovered this year were released in previous years, this is a list only dedicated those released this past year.  I’ve never publically created a list like this, but I felt like 2008 was really a great year for music.  Maybe I expanded my horizons and discovered many new artists that I normally wouldn’t have, or maybe it was just because there were so many good albums that came out this year.  Either way without me going any further here is my top 25 list:

16. Winter sleep - Welcome To The Night Sky (November 11, 2008 — now I know some of you may say, “but Steve wasn’t this released November 2, 2007?”  Well yes, but November 11, 2008 was the year it was released in the United States.  But because of this massive controversy I will add 1 tied album to the list at the number 16 spot as well.
